Six Nations Championship Ticketing FAQ

When do Six Nations Championship tickets go on sale?

There is no single on-sale date, but six different ones. Each union sells tickets for its own home matches according to its own schedule — and in most countries, the general public only gets access to any remaining tickets once clubs and members have been allocated theirs.

UnionPriority accessGeneral public sale
France (FFR)Affiliated clubs, registered members, partnersJanuary, shortly before the tournament
England (RFU)Clubs and membersAlmost non-existent
Ireland (IRFU)Clubs and membersAlmost non-existent
Scotland (SRU)Members and clubsVery limited
Wales (WRU)Clubs and members2 to 3 months before the match
Italy (FIR)Direct saleUp to a year in advance

How long before a match do tickets go on sale?

Anywhere from twelve months to just a few weeks beforehand, depending on the host country. Italy releases tickets very early, sometimes almost a year in advance. France and Wales tend to release tickets later, once club allocations have been dealt with. England, Ireland and Scotland rarely offer general public sales, as most tickets are distributed through clubs and members.

In practice, if you are not a member of any rugby union or affiliated club, the most useful period is between September and January before the tournament, and availability can be short-lived.

How can I buy Six Nations Championship tickets?

There are only two official sources: the union of the host country, or an official partner appointed by that union. This is also stated on the Six Nations ticketing page: tickets should only be purchased from a union or from an official partner appointed by a union.

In practical terms, there are five main options:

OptionPriceAvailabilityWhat to know

Club or membership allocationFace valueRestricted to eligible membersThe safest option if you have access
Authorised resellers and agenciesFace value + feesReasonableCheck that the seller is authorised
Travel packages (ticket + hotel)HighGoodThe ticket is guaranteed as part of the package
Private resaleVariableUnpredictableResale is regulated by law in several countries

How much does a Six Nations Championship ticket cost?

The price depends on the stadium, seating category and fixture: the difference between a premium category and a pitchside seat can be as much as tenfold. A France v England match at the Stade de France and an Italy v Scotland match at the Stadio Olimpico are not in the same price range.

Prices displayed by resellers often include service fees that only appear at checkout, so always compare the final price rather than the headline price.

Why is there no single official ticketing website?

Because the tournament does not belong to one single organiser. Each rugby union controls its own home matches and sells tickets according to its own rules, priorities and timetable.

The practical consequence is simple: for a France v England match played at Twickenham, the English RFU decides how tickets are sold, not the FFR. If the same fixture is played at the Stade de France the following year, the opposite applies.

How can I identify a reliable offer and avoid scams?

Five simple checks can help you avoid most scams:

  1. Check the seller's identity — company name, registration number, address and reachable customer service. A website with no legal or company information gives you very little recourse if something goes wrong.
  2. Be wary of prices that look too low for the most sought-after categories. A Category 1 ticket priced far below the market rate should be treated with caution.
  3. Never pay by bank transfer or by a payment method intended for “friends and family”. These payment methods usually offer little or no buyer protection.
  4. Ask for the ticket to be transferred through the official ticketing platform itself, rather than accepting a PDF emailed by a private seller: the same PDF can potentially be sold several times.
  5. Be aware that resale above face value is regulated in several Six Nations countries. A ticket resold for several times its original price may be cancelled or refused at the entrance.

How can I find out where the match is being played this year?

Each fixture alternates between home and away venues. If France hosted England at the Stade de France this year, the match will be played at Twickenham the following season.

The venue determines everything else: which union sells the tickets, when they go on sale, the pricing structure and the stadium seating plan.

View the full Six Nations Championship schedule or browse upcoming matches: each match links to its stadium page.

Can I still find tickets once the official allocation has sold out?

Yes, although usually above face value. Once the unions' official allocations have sold out, tickets may still be available through specialist resellers, travel agencies and packages including transport and accommodation.

This is what our website compares: offers from the platforms we list, their final prices and the guarantees they provide. We do not sell tickets ourselves.

How do I select ticket offers ?

There is no single official ticket office for the Six Nations! Each nation sells its own tickets. Unfortunately, official ticket sales often open quite late, and tickets can sell out within minutes, making it difficult for fans who want to plan their trip well in advance. If you want to organise your rugby trip early, you have two options: book through an official travel agency approved by the French Rugby Federation (FFR), or use a secondary ticket marketplace. For the travel agency option, feel free to contact me directly, as I am in direct contact with one. With more than 15 years of experience, I only list secondary-market ticket sellers that have a proven track record and, at a minimum, guarantee either ticket delivery or a refund. Prices are compared including fees and ranked by the actual price you pay, never by the commission I may receive. If an offer seems questionable to me, it simply does not appear on the website.

Full transparency : Billetterie-Rugby.com is an independent Six Nations ticket price comparison and monitoring website. I do not sell any tickets myself. The website earns a commission from the ticket seller when you make a booking. This does not affect the price you pay.

I have been going to rugby stadiums for more than twenty years : I know the difference between sitting behind the posts and having a seat along the touchline, and that is the kind of practical experience I try to share with you — not just a table of prices.

« My goal : to make sure you arrive at the stadium with peace of mind, holding the right ticket at the right price. » — Christophe
