🎓 Tickets for the 2027 Six Nations Tournament
→ View available ticketsThe essentials in 6 points
- Rome offers some of the lowest published face-value Six Nations ticket prices: Curva seats cost €42, compared with a starting price of £65 in Cardiff.
- The published Italian ticket prices include advance booking fees, making them easier to compare with what you actually pay.
- Tickets went on sale on 9 April 2026, around ten months before Italy’s first 2027 home fixture.
- Tickets can be transferred to another person under the stadium’s stated rules, although ticket resale is subject to Italian law and the event’s terms.
- No Metro line serves the Stadio Olimpico directly. Tram 2 from Flaminio or local buses are the usual options; check for service changes.
- All three 2027 Italy home games are scheduled for 3.10pm Rome time. That leaves the evening free to enjoy the city.
A Six Nations weekend in Rome combines international rugby with one of Europe’s most rewarding city breaks. The headline benefit is the published cost of admission: a Curva ticket is priced at €42 for each of Italy’s three 2027 home fixtures. This guide looks at official prices, ticket transfers, where to stay, transport and matchday rules. For seating areas and the stadium layout, see our Stadio Olimpico guide.
Information checked: 22 September 2026. The prices below are taken from the Italian Rugby Federation’s published 2027 price list. Stadium rules and transport details should be checked again shortly before travelling, as arrangements may change.

2027 official ticket prices: why Rome stands out
The Italian Rugby Federation opened sales on 9 April 2026, almost ten months before the first home fixture in February 2027. That gives supporters an unusually early opportunity to plan flights and accommodation around a known face-value ticket price.
Here is the published price list for all three Italy home fixtures. Prices include advance booking fees. All figures are in euros, not converted into pounds, so the original official rates remain clear.
| Seating area | vs Ireland 13 Feb | vs France 6 Mar | vs Wales 13 Mar |
|---|---|---|---|
| Curva | €42 | €42 | €42 |
| Distinti | €56 | €56 | €56 |
| Tribuna Tevere | €87 | €87 | €77 |
| Tevere Centrale | €120 | €120 | €112 |
| Tevere Top | €140 | €140 | €127 |
| Tevere VIP | €170 | €170 | €170 |
| Tribuna Monte Mario | €122 | €122 | €112 |
| Monte Mario Top | €147 | €147 | €137 |
Official Italian Rugby Federation 2027 prices, including advance booking fees, recorded on 22 September 2026. These are face-value prices, not live secondary-market offers.
What the price list tells us
- Entry-level prices stay the same for every opponent: €42 for Curva seats and €56 for Distinti, whether Italy host Ireland, France or Wales.
- Some side-stand categories are cheaper for Italy v Wales. Tribuna Tevere drops from €87 to €77, while Tevere Centrale falls from €120 to €112.
- Italy v France costs the same as Italy v Ireland across the published categories. The presence of France does not increase the official Italian price list.
Rome compared with the other four host cities
The published entry-level prices and sales arrangements differed considerably when this article was researched:
| Destination | Lowest published standard ticket price | Public-sale position as recorded |
|---|---|---|
| Rome | €42, booking fees included | Opened 9 April 2026 |
| Cardiff | £65 | Public sale announced for 2 October 2026 |
| Edinburgh | Not yet published | Priority routes followed by any general sale |
| Dublin | Not yet published | Club allocations and supporters’ routes before any public availability |
| London | No general public sale announced | Tickets allocated through RFU channels |
For supporters travelling from England, Scotland or Wales, Rome is particularly attractive if you want to combine a relatively inexpensive standard match ticket with a longer holiday. Flights and hotels, however, can change the overall cost considerably.
PromoClub: discounted tickets for FIR-affiliated clubs
Alongside the standard prices, the Italian federation publishes a lower PromoClub rate for eligible clubs and players affiliated to the Federazione Italiana Rugby (FIR).
| Seating area | Standard price | PromoClub price |
|---|---|---|
| Curva | €42 | €20 |
| Distinti | €56 | €28 |
| Tribuna Tevere | €87 / €77 | €47 |
| Tevere Centrale | €120 / €112 | €67 |
| Tevere Top | €140 / €127 | €82 |
| Tribuna Monte Mario | €122 / €112 | €67 |
| Monte Mario Top | €147 / €137 | €92 |
A €20 Curva ticket is an appealing proposition, but this is not an open discount for any rugby club member.
⚠️ Who can actually use PromoClub? The scheme is for FIR-affiliated clubs and eligible registered players, with a valid Italian federation registration code required during booking. Membership of an RFU, Scottish Rugby, Welsh Rugby or other UK club does not automatically qualify. Do not budget for the discount without confirming eligibility.
It may be relevant if you are travelling with an Italian-affiliated club or arranging an exchange visit with a rugby club in Italy. The original federation guidance described online purchases in batches of up to ten tickets, with larger requests handled by its ticketing team.
For most travelling supporters, the realistic entry-level face-value budget is therefore €42 per ticket, subject to availability.
Transferring or reselling tickets in Italy
An important feature of the Stadio Olimpico’s published rules is that a ticket is issued in the purchaser’s name rather than necessarily the person attending, and may be passed to another person. That does not mean unrestricted commercial resale is permitted. Always follow the applicable event rules and any official transfer procedure.
This can help when one member of a group can no longer travel. However, UK supporters should not assume that ticket transfers work in the same way at Twickenham, Murrayfield, Cardiff and Dublin.
| Destination | Can a ticket be passed on? | Relevant restrictions |
|---|---|---|
| Rome | The published stadium rules allow transfers | Resale is governed by Italian law and event terms |
| Cardiff | Official ticket exchange arrangements are available | Use authorised transfer or resale routes |
| London | RFU Ticket Exchange where applicable | Unauthorised resale may breach conditions |
| Edinburgh | Mobile-ticket systems govern transfers | Check Scottish Rugby’s current app policy |
| Dublin | Resale above face value is prohibited for designated events | Irish Sale of Tickets Act 2021 |
The legal limit matters
Italy’s Law No. 232 of 11 December 2016 introduced restrictions on unauthorised commercial ticket resale, with sanctions reported in the original research ranging from €5,000 to €180,000. A non-commercial, occasional resale by a private individual at no more than face value is treated differently. Rules may also depend on the event and ticket conditions.
💡 Practical advice: if somebody in your party drops out, check the official ticket terms and transfer method before handing the ticket to another person. Avoid offers far above the published face value and verify the seller before paying. The Italian federation identifies TicketOne as its official ticketing channel.

Travelling to Rome from the UK
Rome is accessible by air from major UK airports, including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and Edinburgh, although direct routes and flight schedules vary by airport and season. Check which airport you arrive at: Rome Fiumicino (FCO) and Ciampino (CIA) have different onward transport options.
- From London and the South East: compare direct flights from several airports rather than focusing on one departure point. Include airport transfers in the total cost.
- From the Midlands, northern England, Scotland and Wales: compare direct departures with connecting itineraries, particularly for a short Friday-to-Sunday stay.
- Fiumicino Airport: the Leonardo Express runs to Roma Termini, while other rail services connect with different parts of the city.
- Ciampino Airport: shuttle buses and rail/bus combinations provide access to central Rome.
- Allow extra time on your return: major stations and airport connections may be busier after a Six Nations weekend.
For UK-based supporters, the best decision is often to stay longer than two nights. Rome has far more to offer than a single match, and all three fixtures are scheduled for mid-afternoon, leaving room for sightseeing and dinner on matchday. Remember that Rome is one hour ahead of the UK in February and March.
Where to stay in Rome
Unlike Cardiff or Dublin, the Stadio Olimpico is not right in the tourist centre. Staying next to the Foro Italico may be convenient for the match but less practical for sightseeing. Choose your hotel for Rome itself, then plan the stadium journey separately.
For most visitors, access to Metro Line A or the Flaminio/Piazza del Popolo area is more useful than simply being close to the stadium on a map.
| Area | Advantages | Trade-offs |
|---|---|---|
| Flaminio / Piazza del Popolo | Easy access towards tram 2 and the historic centre | Central-location hotel prices |
| Prati / Vatican | Restaurants, Metro Line A and a good balance of sightseeing and rugby | May require a change for the stadium |
| Historic centre / Trastevere | Character, food and nightlife | Longer journey to and from the stadium |
💡 Where we would stay: for a first rugby weekend in Rome, Flaminio, Piazza del Popolo or Prati offers a sensible balance between the match and the rest of the holiday. Check the actual journey from your hotel, rather than relying on distance alone.
Matchday: reaching the Stadio Olimpico and stadium rules
There is no Metro station at the stadium
The Stadio Olimpico is not directly served by the Rome Metro. Public transport generally involves using the tram or a bus for the final part of the journey. Allow extra time for matchday queues and service changes.
| Transport | How to get there |
|---|---|
| Tram 2 | From Piazzale Flaminio (near Metro Line A at Flaminio) towards Piazza Mancini; then walk across Ponte Duca d’Aosta to the stadium |
| Bus | Several routes serve the Foro Italico area from different parts of Rome; check live ATAC information |
| Metro | No direct service. Use Line A and connect to a tram or bus |
| After the match | Expect queues and altered service patterns; check current departures before leaving |
The three 2027 fixtures are scheduled for 3.10pm local time in Rome. That generally means leaving the stadium in the late afternoon, with the evening still available for exploring the city.
Stadium rules worth knowing
The Stadio Olimpico’s published ground regulations include detailed restrictions on what spectators may bring. The key points from the information checked in September 2026 are:
- Arrive at least 45 minutes before kick-off, as recommended in the published stadium information.
- Cans and glass or plastic bottles are restricted. Drinks may need to be poured into permitted cups; alcohol above 5% ABV is generally not permitted without specific authorisation.
- Rigid umbrellas are prohibited. Check the weather forecast and bring a lightweight waterproof jacket instead.
- Prohibited objects include weapons, fireworks, lasers, drones, rigid flagpoles and unauthorised musical instruments.
- Large banners or displays may require advance permission, with the original regulations calling for submission at least ten working days before the event.
- Carry valid identification: security staff may ask to see it, including after entry.
⚠️ No re-entry: under the stadium rules reviewed, once you leave the venue you cannot return on the same ticket. Make sure you have everything you need before passing through the turnstiles.
Bag sizes: the stadium regulations reviewed for the original guide did not specify a single maximum bag size. That is not proof that any size is permitted. Travel light, use a compact bag and check the latest instructions issued for your match.
The pre-match fan village
Previous editions have featured a fan village at the Foro Italico, with food and drink, entertainment, radio coverage, exhibitions and music. Some have operated from 10am until 8pm for ticket holders. The 2027 arrangement had not been confirmed in the material checked in September 2026, so do not build your plans around it without confirmation.
Where to eat and drink before the match
- Roma Beer Company: at Piazza di Ponte Milvio, around a 15-minute walk from the stadium; an option for food and drinks in a lively matchday area.
- Four Green Fields: an Irish pub in Prati, useful for visiting supporters heading to the match.
- Scholars Lounge: a central sports pub near Piazza Venezia, with screens for other Six Nations fixtures.
- Finnegan Irish Pub: near the Colosseum, another option for watching rugby in the city centre.
After the match and the following day
This is where Rome makes an excellent city-break destination: an afternoon kick-off leaves time for a relaxed dinner rather than a late-night journey back from the stadium.
- Do not rush straight to the first tram. There may be long queues immediately after full-time; consider allowing the first crowd to clear.
- Book Saturday dinner if you have somewhere particular in mind. Popular restaurants can fill up on rugby weekends.
- Keep Sunday free for sightseeing. The Colosseum, Roman Forum, Vatican area and historic centre reward more time than a quick stopover.
